Parallel to the Creation Account

Summarize the ANE parallel and explain how it relates to the OT.
Apsu and Tiamut create the gods. There is some confusion as to who ruled supremely. Tiamut revolted and tried to war agianst Apsu. Apsu goes to look for warriors who would fight against Tiamut and her army. Anu and Nudimmud were sent but both could not withstand her and fell back. Marduk was called next. He took up the winds to bind Tiamut and sliced her in two. Her followers tried to escape but Marduk caught them as well. Marduk is then made greatest of the gods. Mankind is created to worship him and to reside over the earth.
This text is known to parallel the creation account. The beginning was very confusing for me with all the different names and creators and gods being created. Then, as they began to fight, it became increasingly more difficult because of who the gods recruited to fight and who was good and who was evil. I can see the parallelism in Eve being the root of the evil along with Tiamut the mother of creation rebelling against all the gods. Also, at the end, Marduk becomes God. He rises up and saves the people from evil. However, they are still under his power so not equal. The earth and heavens and plants and beings are created after the "great sin" in the Enuma Elish. The humans are created to serve the gods and Marduk.
There is a lot of repetition and imagery, just as in the Hebrew Bible. The order and obviously the greater beings are drastically different.
The Enuma Elish relates to the Old Testament in terms of power being given. When someone rises up to deliver people from oppression or sin, they become prophets or greater beings. In the Hebrew creation account, however, God already existed and he had to break down the human race. He took away their power instead of restoring it.
I'm sorry this is not very long. The message of the Enuma Elish was very confusing because it seemed to pertain to a whole different religion. I could not keep up with all the names and actions happening. Especially because the original text is not all there. There are major parts that are unreadable that may be very influential to the true meaning.
